I remember being told&lt;br /&gt;about stopping at the drug store on the way home from&lt;br /&gt;High School, she and friends would get a sandwich&lt;br /&gt;that consisted of a roll that would have a device that&lt;br /&gt;pushed into the roll and dispensed hot creamy cheese.&lt;br /&gt;The simple things in life were the best.&lt;br /&gt;I want to thank everyone in our family for the wonderful&lt;br /&gt;remembrances we have all had with my Mom.   As was&lt;br /&gt;said to me, it will take awhile to settle down for myself,&lt;br /&gt;and I'm finding this true and realize this, for I have been&lt;br /&gt;taking care of her for probably 7 years, 3 years moving back into&lt;br /&gt;the home I grew up in, and the last 3 months intense care.&lt;br /&gt;She wanted to be in her home.   She was not suffering,&lt;br /&gt;just kept going as long as she could, for me, us, herself.&lt;br /&gt;I made a little web page with my rememberances, pictures&lt;br /&gt;and also am including what is sent to me from all of you.&lt;br /&gt;Cousin Marshall sent a 1935 photo and story.  Years ago&lt;br /&gt;he also sent a video from old movies which I will find&lt;br /&gt;and put up portions soon.   I will be moving out of the&lt;br /&gt;home I thrived and learned in, in North Hollywood.  We&lt;br /&gt;will be selling it, but I have all the memories in my heart,&lt;br /&gt;in photos and videos forever. We would spend a lot&lt;br /&gt;of time at Valley Plaza or RATHBUN'S&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;" &gt; on &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;" &gt;Lankershim and Chandler, a small department&lt;br /&gt;store. Rathbun's was on the property between&lt;br /&gt;the North Hollywood Post Office and the Bank&lt;br /&gt;Building at Weddington.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In my early days we would go to MAY CO&lt;br /&gt;at Fairfax and Wilshire. Where, next store,&lt;br /&gt;there was a Newberry's 5 (five)&amp;amp; Dime,&lt;br /&gt;like a 99cent store then, which also had a&lt;br /&gt;fountain restaurant.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My Mom would come and help do sales&lt;br /&gt;at this store, it was the Sixties and the&lt;br /&gt;PIG FARM brought HIPPIES to ST way&lt;br /&gt;way before Haight Ashbury!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When my Mom worked as a Special&lt;br /&gt;Education Aide that took her to different&lt;br /&gt;parts of the East Valley working at&lt;br /&gt;different schools.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2899/1414/1600/momthcr%20copy.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 194px; height: 150px;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2899/1414/320/momthcr%20copy.jpg" alt="" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;font-size:100%;"  &gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;Belonging to different&lt;br /&gt;groups always kept her around town with&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;font-size:100%;"  &gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;her &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;font-size:100%;"  &gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;meetings being TOPS, OA&lt;br /&gt;or Rada Soami Meditation group.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I remember going to Dr. Singer, her&lt;br /&gt;Chiropractor's houses&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;font-size:100%;"  &gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt; right next &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;font-size:100%;"  &gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;to CAMBRIDGE MARKET on Burbank.&lt;br /&gt;He was a Chiropractor, we would play with his&lt;br /&gt;toy poodles and intercoms that were fashioned&lt;br /&gt;into old crank phones.
